COMMENTS ON CAROLYN’S COMPOSITIONS
Because CAROLYN’S COMPOSITIONS is coming to an end (later December posts will update you on the magazine’s evolution to CAROLYN’S ONLINE MAGAZINE : COMe) I decided to review and list some of the comments received over its 6 year life.
Comments indicate connection with readers. They add meaning to my writing—I’m reaching someone, entertaining them, introducing them to new topics and ideas, perhaps providing insight. Often they add corrective comments. More often they are uplifting.
The many wonderful comments received by CAROLYN’S COMPOSITIONS during its lifespan encourage me to move on to creating a follow up blog—information on CAROLYN’S ONLINE MAGAZINE will be provided, hopefully, on January 1, 2015, and posted on this blog so you won’t lose any of my delightful writing. (OK, so there has to be some humor!)

CAROLYN’S BIO My husband sent me the link to this bio on you, from the Upper Room’s devotional, first thing this morning. His words, “She looks like someone you would like.” I have always had writing aspirations, but even though I write a commentary daily on the day’s devotion, I have little timeleft over to write more. I have not been published and my few attempts were unsuccessful. Your book sounds like something I would enjoy. I am writing this to you because my husband thought you reminded him of my interests. Mount Katahdin’s Angry God. Pamola From Diane Cipa, Ligonier Living blog: Carolyn brought back the memory. I recall terror as I faced the craggy rock face I was expected to climb in the wild wind. I left my friends and turned back for camp. They followed shortly thereafter having been told by others above that rock that the winds were too fierce for climbing that day. My friends did climb to the top the following morning. I was too pooped to pop and didn’t join them. Now Katadin stands on my short bucket list – Katadin and Katmandu. It’s a short list and I didn’t notice til now that it’s two mountain Kats. Hmmmm… Diane Mt Katahdin
Aboard the Boston Transit System Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit
crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!

Why My Christmas Cactus Blooms on Thanksgiving Well, this answers my questions as one of mine always starts blooming on Thanksgiving and the others close to Christmas. Funny though, they all bloom again well after the holidays. Pam

- I don’t think it will be in any library. You can download it off the Internet (see the link within and at the end of my post, or click on http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/12431/pg12431.html ) and click on it. Once it comes up the book (The Coquette) can be highlighted, copied, and pasted on a word-doc. Carolyn
WOMEN IN BUSINESS I have found your post very helpful since I am new to the work from home business. You are right about selling the herbs in small quantities. I have wasted much when only using a small amount for a particular recipe. Every good wish. Jo…and Hey Carolyn, Thank you for posting such an insightful blog entry! You’re absolutely right: the first step in starting a home based business is having the confidence in yourself that you’ll be able to carry out the tasks at hand and succeed. With a serious drive, the odds of success increase a hundredfold. OH, TO CLIMB SCHOODIC MOUNTAIN (Maine) I climbed this mountain at least a dozen times in the 1970’s and 1960’s. My mother owned several cabins on the opposite end of Flanders Pond. I would walk across around Flanders Pond until I got to the railroad tracks. It would take several hours to walk around Flanders Pond to get to the railroad tracks. Once you got on the railroad tracks it was about a one a half mile walk on the railroad tracks until you got to the trail going up Schoodic Mountain…It is a beautiful mountain and that whole area in a wonderful area. I would be glad to talk to anyone about this area. Andy

ARCHIE & MEHITIBLE As an A&M fan and being old enough to appreciate REAL bulb-type “fountain” pens (and fountain jerks, too) as well as typewriters (sans electric motors even!) that were too heavy to even think of the word “portable”, I want to off a Hats Off! to Carolyn or Cochran or whomever authored the ARCHIE & MEHITIBLE piece. WordPress Photo Challenge 11/28/2014: Things That Converge I had a private tour of Kentuck Knob by Mrs. Hagan. It is an unusual place and design for sure, from the copper roof to each room not being square (or rectangular). I didn’t get to see it, but it is rumored that Mr. Hagan wanted a place for freezers/ food storage because of the heavy snows in that area. He wanted supplies in case they were isolated by the inclement weather. Wright didn’t want it spoiling his concept. In the end, Wright conceded to put a basement in the house. Tom Beck

It is easy to forget that every ending leads to a new beginning. However, the posts in CAROLYN’S COMPOSITIONS will, as time passes, still be relevant and readable, as the above list suggests. As a comment in the 2013 WordPress evaluation stated, Some of your most popular posts were written before 2013. Your writing has staying power!
I thank all my readers, especially my commenters, for making CAROLYN’S COMPOSITIONS a success.
It’s time now to move on. A new year. A new month. A new blog.
